Earthquake Victim Relief

11/04/05 - The Chambersburg Noontime Lions Club has contributed $250 to the Lions Club International's Pakistan Earthquake Victims Relief Fund. This gift will help fund a $200,000 Major Catastrophe Grant announced last month by Clement Kusiak, Lions Club International Foundation Chairman, who challenged Lions Clubs worldwide to contribute to Pakistan Earthquake relief efforts. "Lions consider themselves a part of both the world and local communities and our members were more than happy to quickly answer the call to help with this tragedy" said Dick Blackshire, club president. Blackshire said the Chambersburg Noontime Lions Club also participated in the relief funding during the past year's Asian Tsunami, Hurricane Katrina Disaster, and provides eyeglasses, scholarships, and various financial gifts throughout the community.
